True Prophecy creates reality, and Kiris is the True Prophet. He’d like to undo some of his realities. Among others, seventeen blights, four famines, the destruction of a principality, a foreign empire’s invasion, and the upcoming death of his mentor.

When the invading empire hosts a Competition of Princes to delegate tax-collection onto the locals, Kiris realizes he has a chance to save his mentor. And if he can’t save them before they die—well. Is necromancy really a sin, if no gods are around to see it?

Liquefaction should never be the opening of war. Yet Madison Arcona’s home-planet’s buildings are pristine, its forests verdant and untouched, and its people are bloated skin-sacks of milked bone. Dead. The people on Harpazo’s moon: presumed dead. Of the 8.3 billion citizens, half a million survive; the Liberation claims this as justice. Madison vows revenge.

Now a special operative in the war against the Liberation, her life finally feels manageable—until she discovers her younger brother survived. The Liberation has imprisoned him in a facility known for using mind control, and Madison cannot access him without deserting. To save her brother, Madison must sacrifice both her revenge and her one fast-held dogma: that she is in control.
